Poppy
A fragile flower. Crumpled, it emerges from the bud. Like a wrinkled baby from its mother's womb.
Fragile and wafer-thin are the petals.
Bright red among contrasting green.
Endearing too. Pathetic.
We are moved by it.
The bloom symbolises the fragility of our 'eco-system' the fragility of our nature.
Where in the past the fields were red with poppies, they are now uniformly green as if it is artificial grass you are looking at.
On the wall, this poppy can remind you daily of the fragility of nature and us humans.
Thereby inspiring us to do the right thing.
