This collage combines an authentic popcorn packaging from a 1950s American cinema with a black-and-white photograph of an early 20th-century woman holding a classic camera in front of her eye. The vibrant red-white-and-blue colours of the packaging contrast beautifully with the monochrome tones of the vintage photo. A playful detail is the addition of real popcorn pieces sprinkled over the collage, with one piece serving as a quirky hat for the photographing lady.
With this collage, I aim to create a nostalgic and playful atmosphere that takes the viewer back to the golden days of American cinemas. The vibrant colours of the popcorn packaging evoke a sense of cheerfulness and retro charm, while the black-and-white photo adds a timeless elegance. The addition of real popcorn pieces enhances the playful character and invites smiles.
In this collage, I used layering by combining different materials: an original popcorn wrapper, a vintage photo and real popcorn pieces. Integrating three-dimensional elements, such as the popcorn as a hat, adds a tangible and unexpected dimension to the work. This technique plays with texture and surprise, encouraging the viewer to take a closer look at the work and discover new details.
This work is for lovers of retro and vintage. Its vibrant colours and playful elements make it a striking piece that adds character to any space.
