This colourful pop art piece shows the skyline of Rotterdam in all its glory. Iconic buildings and places such as the Euromast, Erasmus Bridge, De Kuip, Kop van Zuid, Markthal, Montevideo, Maastunnel and even the SS Rotterdam have been incorporated. Together, they form a recognisable and powerful image of the city.
The work came about as an evolution of my earlier creation Rotterdam city in four colours (work code 1085918). For this version, I wanted to add football stadium De Kuip, home of Feijenoord. I also replaced the original water reflection with a realistic reflection in the water, giving extra depth and dynamics.
The sky above the skyline is filled with a creative word cloud of typical Rotterdam streets, buildings and terms, making this work not only a cityscape, but also an homage to Rotterdam's versatility.
