This image is originally a photograph of wall texture and sunlight. Using various digital editing techniques, this photograph has been used to create an abstract yet accessible image that is perfect for inclusion in a warm and stylish interior.
Identity is a theme that often recurs in my work as a photographer. However, this image revolves around its counterpart: abstraction. Because of my love for interiors, I know how important (and fun!) it is to reflect your own identity in your living style. The technique gives the image a kind of noise-like distortion, allowing sharp lines and details to blend in. This puts the focus on the mood, colour and style of the work rather than a specific something or someone.
By choosing abstract subjects that are recognisable in colour and feeling, this work evokes a different emotion and memory in each person. So it is an image with room for unique interpretation. I searched for the balance between abstraction and recognition. With the aim that the viewer himself can give meaning to the work, to be able to frame a certain atmosphere, as it were, and thus connect their own identity to the work.
For me personally, this work represents the everyday beauty that nature exhibits to us, hence the title ''Plains of Light''. In my opinion, it would look beautiful in a warm interior.
