At 382 m long and 124 m wide, this ship is the largest in the world. The Pioneering Spirit can lift and transport large platforms of around 48,000 tonnes from their pedestals in one go. The vessel can also lay pipelines with diameters ranging from 6 to 68 inches for oil and gas transport at depths of up to 3,500 m at a speed of over seven kilometres a day. The vessel was brought from the shipyard in Korea to Rotterdam in 2014 for completion. On 8 January 2015, it arrived at Alexiahaven on the Second Maasvlakte and anchored there. Additional dredging was carried out in the port due to the ship's draft. At the berth, the 65-metre-long beams of the lifting system are being installed, brought in by ship from Italy. On 6 August 2016, the ship sailed out for its first tests in the North Sea. The ship should have been ready a year earlier, but delays delayed its delivery. It was in the port of Rotterdam for a year and a half, and some 70,000 people took a special cruise around the ship.(source: Wikipedia)
