A periwinkle crawls from one very large pebble on the beach at La Hague (Normandy, France) onto the next. Behind it you can see a trail of small spots that it has left on the stones.

At the moment the picture is taken, it moves from a large stone to a slightly smaller one and you can see that it has an ascent ahead of it after the descent.

Against the light, the snail appears almost transparent and vulnerable on the large pebbles. The evening mood with clouds and the approaching sunset puts the scene in a particularly atmospheric light.

Despite the relatively small size of the snail, you can still see a lot of landscape from the foreground with pebbles, the beach to the sea.

The picture conveys a great deal of tranquillity and has a meditative character. However, it also shows how a small, sensitive creature seems to move effortlessly and with ease on the large and mighty pebbles.

This was made possible by the use of a special lens that enables precisely these particular landscape impressions.
The pebbles are about 30 centimetres long and quite heavy, so they cannot be compared with small pebbles.

The picture was taken with a 60 megapixel camera and a G-Master lens, which is characterised by its special optical construction. The image was processed on a calibrated monitor.

The nature of the image allows it to be used in a variety of ways as wall decoration in portrait or landscape format, which also looks particularly impressive in panoramic format.
