Misia Sert (born Maria Zofia Olga Zenajda Godebska; Tsarskoye Selo, March 30, 1872 - 1950) was a pianist of Polish descent who had an artistic salon in Paris. She was friends with many artists, and she posed regularly. Maria Zofia Olga Zenajda Godebska was born to a Polish father and a half-Belgian, half-Russian mother.
In her early childhood, Misia stood out for her piano playing. Before she was 16, she married Tadeusz Natanson, a Polish emigre politician and journalist. He later became the editor-in-chief of La revue blanche magazine. When Natanson was near bankruptcy, newspaper magnate Alfred Edwards rescued him on the condition that he surrender his wife. She lived with Alfred Edwards beginning in 1903.
Pierre Bonnard (Fontenay-aux-Roses, Oct. 3, 1867 - Le Cannet, Jan. 23, 1947) was a French painter and printer and a founding member of Les Nabis.
