The palm village near Petten aan zee is a work of art that was placed after 35million cubic metres of sand was dredged up to reinforce the coastline. previously, there was only a sea dyke but now there is a real beach and dunes.
The eel village symbolises the old village of petten that once disappeared into the sea and is a favourite subject for photography.
Especially with long shutter speeds, you can get beautiful effects as the water flows between the piles.
In this photo, a shutter speed of 5 seconds was used, creating a nice blur.
Due to the grey weather that day, the photo is almost monochrome in colour.
