Petrol with droplets – Elegant flounce with an abstract reflection by Marjolijn van den Berg

This macro photograph: "Petrol met druppels - Elegant pluisje met abstracte reflectie" is a photograph of a single white dandelion fluff lying on a reflective surface. Many tiny water droplets cling to this little white fluff, adorning it beautifully. The background is petrol-coloured and lends the whole image a chic, tranquil feel. The background is reflective, and because there are also many water droplets on the surface, a beautiful abstract reflection is created in the background! When you zoom in on the photo, you can see this very clearly. You can also see how beautifully detailed the area in focus is. As I’ve opted for a relatively shallow depth of field, the image becomes increasingly blurred the further you look towards the foreground or background. This simultaneously lends a sense of depth to the photograph and creates a sense of tranquillity.
Droplets are one of my favourite subjects to photograph. Sometimes the droplets are the sole subject; sometimes they adorn the subject, as in this photograph.

Thanks to the natural tranquillity and simplicity of this photograph, this wall decoration would, for example, look excellent in a minimalist, Wabi-Sabi or Scandinavian interior. This piece could, for instance, look stunning as wall art in the bedroom on an ArtFrame above the bed, as wallpaper in the hall to serve as a beautiful eye-catcher as you enter, or simply above the sofa in the living room, perhaps on aluminium! It would also look lovely on the wall in a meeting room (business setting). ©Marjolijn van den Berg
