About ‘Perfume of Shadows’ by Saskia de Wal

In this still life, lilies take centre stage in all their mysterious and almost theatrical beauty. Their open forms, velvety petals and sculptural lines emerge from the darkness as if slowly coming into view in a tranquil scene. The lily is a flower steeped in symbolism: seductive, fragile, powerful and, at the same time, fleeting.

For this work, I played with light and shadow not only to capture the flower, but to make its character palpable. The deep contrasts give the image an almost painterly quality, in which details are subtly illuminated and the dark background lends the flowers even greater presence.

What attracts me to lilies is their duality. They are elegant and gentle, yet at the same time possess something dramatic and mysterious. In this image, I wanted to make precisely that tension visible: between beauty and transience, between stillness and intensity.

The rich details and the dark, timeless atmosphere give this work a powerful and refined presence in an interior. A work of art for lovers of flowers with character, classical beauty and images that bring together mystery and emotion.

What are the delivery times?

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. Details on the exact delivery date will be sent after placement of the order. Depending on the shipping country the following delivery times apply:

Is your order a gift for someone? We can create you a gift voucher that displays the artwork(s) you ordered, so you have something to give while the artwork is being printed. Just send us an e-mail and we’ll take care of it.

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
