Peonies, Baisho Moronobu
Red and white peonies are depicted near a stream with a strange rock. The gold above and below is rendered in suyarigasumi (a technique for rendering fog running sideways in an emakimono (painting scrolls)). The rock is painted with white and green, and moss dots are added over the outline drawn with ink and gold. It shows the characteristics of a typical Japanese decorative painting style
