Under a clear sky in light blue are people eating outside, having a picnic. At the picnic, the men and women have animals and a carriage with a horse.
Pedro Figari (29 June 1861 - 24 July 1938) was an Uruguayan painter, lawyer, writer and politician. Although he did not begin practicing until his later years, he is best known as an early Modernist (Modernism) painter who emphasized capturing the everyday aspects of life in his work. In most of his pieces, he tried to capture the essence of his home by painting local customs that he had observed in his youth.
Figari painted primarily from memory, a technique that gives his work a much more personal feel. With his unique style, in which he painted without the intention of creating an illusion, he, along with other prominent Latin American artists such as Diego Rivera and Tarsila do Amaral, caused an identity revolution in the art world of Latin America.
