Paushuize (Kromme Nieuwegracht 49) is credited to the only Dutch pope, Adrian VI, who had the house built from 1517 onwards. However, he never inhabited this house. Since then, the building has had various functions. Among others, it was the residence of King Louis Napoleon, workspace and residence for the Queen's Commissioner, and hotel.
