The Paper Mill Lock is a vaulted bridge in Amsterdam-Centre. Lock in the "old" indication for stone bridge, although there was also a lock here.
The road bridge forms the connection between the eastern quay and the odd side of the Prinsengracht and the ditto quay and side of the Korte Prinsengracht. It crosses the Brouwersgracht. This junction of Brouwersgracht and Prinsengracht is also located in the supply route from the Westerdok and the IJ to the city, making it one of the busiest water junctions in the city. The bridge, itself a municipal monument since 1995, is surrounded by municipal and national monuments. It shares the southwestern quay wall with the Lekkeresluis, also a municipal monument.
The name comes from a sign that once hung on the corner house on the Brouwergracht; a paper merchant who kept his negotie there had a sign with "de Papiermolen" on it, the bridge is named after it. The bridge is also known under the name Oliekoekensluis, after the oil and pancake bakers once had their stalls here.
