A wide 2:1 panoramic view of the northernmost windmill on the Dutch mainland: the Goliath. Next to this old mill is the tallest wind turbine in the Netherlands: the David.
In 1897, the Goliath was built in Uithuizermeeden to drain the Eemspolder. In 1979, the mill lost its function as a new pumping station took over this work.In 2017, the tallest wind turbine in the Netherlands was built next to the Goliath. It was named David by owner Lagerwey, in reference to the old Bible story. The wind turbine provides enough power for 5,000 households.
