The "PL" stood for "Panhard & Levassor", that was the name of the company from 1886 to 1945 and was finally dissolved in 1967 after the takeover by Citroën. The Panhard PL 17 was to radiate a similar courage to design and elegance as Citroën. The "17" represents the sum of 5 CV (French tax-PS for insurance), 6 seats and 6 l / 100 km (fuel consumption).
