Palm trees on the coast near Jeddah. Jeddah is an ancient city in Saudi Arabia and is located on the Red Sea. Traditionally, Jeddah has been a place where pilgrims start their pilgrimage to Mecca. The centre of Jeddah's old city is especially beautiful, with a gigantic boulevard built along the coast. The promenade, called corniche, is tens of kilometres long and Saudi people stroll there especially when the sun has disappeared. The atmosphere is relaxed. People are friendly. On the boulevard outside the city are many large, luxurious hotels. During the day, there is nothing to do. Like there are no people. That is probably because it is often hot during the day. But when the sun disappears, people appear.
