About the artwork
This picture shows two old tyres that have been overgrown by nature and have now almost completely sunk into the ground. Mosses and grasses have filled the grooves of the tyres and wrap themselves around the once hard rubber structures. The contrast between the soft, green moss and the decaying remains of the tyres impressively shows how nature is slowly but surely reclaiming even the longest-lasting traces of human civilisation.
The surface of the tyres is barely recognisable, while the earth and vegetation begin to integrate them into the natural ecosystem. It seems as if these tyres have been lying here for decades, forgotten and left to time. The light falling on the scene emphasises the different textures of moss, grass and earth and reinforces the feeling that this place is silent and abandoned.
This image symbolises the power of nature and the inevitable decay of all man-made objects. The tyres, which once stood for mobility and progress, are now still and firmly clutched by nature. They are a powerful symbol of the transience of time and the return of nature to neglected places.
