An endless red tulip field, with tight rows disappearing towards the horizon. But if you look closely, you will see something unexpected: here and there a tulip in a different colour. Not part of the system, not neatly lined up - but that is precisely why they stand out. They are the misfits. And for me, they are what make the image special.
The deep red colour is what attracts me most, especially in contrast with the green of the leaves and the grey sky in the background. The interplay of lines leads your gaze forward, while the 'wrong' tulips make you look back every time.
I deliberately did not stand right in the middle when I took this picture. Like the misfits, I wanted to deviate just a little from the norm. For me, that makes the picture fit.
