Monte Palace Tropical Gardens can be found in Madeira, Portugal. The gardens belong to a beautiful palace that was once a famous hotel in the 18th Century but is now a museum with the gardens open to the public. The garden itself is large and established on multi-levels with exotic trees, flowers and ponds all linked with pathways. Several zones follow themes and there are two oriental sections with red handrails (as shown here) and pagodas reminiscent of Japanese style. The walkways cleverly weave throughout this section of the garden, the red hand rails working beautifuly with the green of the lush planting.
