In February 1937, Opel presented the Opel Super 6 at the Berlin Automobile and Motorcycle Exhibition, which was designed as a representative of the upper middle class. However, in contrast to the Opel Olympia of 1935, the classic design with box frame and separate bodywork was still used and this thus benefited coachbuilders such as Autenrieth, Buhne, Gläser or Hebmüller. They were then able to develop and produce tailor-made convertibles as well as roadsters.
Together with the Opel Admiral, the Opel Super 6 was one of the top models in the group at the time.
