This Kapitän is a real barn find that still looks largely like the original and was even driven regularly until 2014. The round headlights came only with the post-war production from 1948 in the series production and also the halogen fog lights below did not exist at that time. The type plate clearly shows the production year 1939. In this form it was produced from 1938-1940 and the years after modified for war purposes, like so many other makes and models. Only after the war it lived up again in this form from 1948-1953. Then came the famous '54 Kapitän with the "shark mouth"-radiator grille.
