About ‘Op-Art_02’ by Peet de Rouw

For this work, I was inspired by the British Bridget Riley. She experimented with highly contrasting areas of colour to create a sensation of light and energy in her paintings. She achieves her goal with exclusively geometric figures and contrasts, which create a strong illusion of movement in the eye while looking depending on the angle of view. Bridget Riley's work belongs to abstract art and is an example of the painting style known as optical art or op-art. This work was created digitally with a so-called text-to-image programme, where the input of keywords in a certain sequence (prompt) leads to an image.
