Oostmahorn lighthouse just after sunset. I had driven to Friesland on a beautiful evening in spring to try to capture the Northern Lights. I had a location in mind for this but as it was still too light I first drove to Oostmahorn to photograph the lighthouse there. I had wanted to capture this lighthouse ever since I started photographing and since I was reasonably close by, I did what I could. The lighthouse is not that big and when I climbed the ladder to stand on the scaffolding to take the picture, it was not easy. I wanted to shoot from a tripod because I wanted the composition to be as symmetrical as possible, but you don't have much room to put your tripod down, just the three planks of the scaffolding and the railings, and then very carefully because you're above the water of the Lauwersmeer. In the end I succeeded with 1 leg of the tripod on the planks and 2 legs on the railing. Just after sunset the light in the lighthouse went on, adding extra atmosphere to this photo. All in all, I am very satisfied and hope to have a nice spot on your wall.
