On the west side of the Lauwersmeer is a beautifully striking lighthouse / gauge the Oostmahorn. It is used to measure the water level in the Lauwersmeer.
They often say that the most beautiful light is during sunrise or sunset. This is usually the case but daytime light can also be beautifully soft and diffuse. During this shoot, I was there in the middle of the day when everything was still covered in a thick layer of fog. How special to no longer have a horizon so that the gauge is suddenly all alone. Lovely conditions to get out there.
