About ‘On the way from Zermatt to Z'Mutt’ by Thomas Bugdoll

Zermatt in the southern Swiss canton of Valais is a mountain resort popular with skiers, climbers and hikers. The town lies at an altitude of 1,600 m at the foot of the famous pyramid-shaped Matterhorn.

Zmutt (or actually Z'Mutt) is a hamlet in the municipality of Zermatt, in the canton of Valais, Switzerland, and lies at an altitude of 1936 m above sea level in the Zmutt valley west of Zermatt. It consists of about 20 wooden houses, built in typical Valais style. The village chapel is dedicated to Saint Catherine of Alexandria, patron saint of the Valais. The valley, which is crossed by the Zmuttbach stream, runs below the north face of the Matterhorn and begins at the Zmutt glacier on the border with the Aosta Valley in Italy. Today, the hamlet with its restaurants is a popular hiking destination.
