About "Ommegang on the Meir in Antwerp - 1600s"

About the artwork

An enclosure was originally a religious procession in the Southern Netherlands. The name originally means "to go around [the church or the town]"; it was about the worship of a saint.

Here the circumambulation of Brabant Antwerp is depicted. Although at the time the city was situated in the Duchy of Brabant, it now falls under the part of Belgium called Flanders with its own province.

The whale or dolphin as in the circumambulation of Antwerp originates from the depiction of the biblical scene of Jonas and the whale. Some have traced the "ship of war" back to the portrayal of the miraculous fishing. It used to be fishermen's or skippers' children who manned the "ship of war".

The print gives a vivid picture of how a colourful collection passes by the houses on the Meir. Some of the cars depict legendary scenes, with the giant Antigone standing out in the limelight. Furthermore, Neptune is sitting on a fish and a number of mermaids can be seen on the back.

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
