The Transfo was owned by the energy producer Electrabel. The domain is nine acres and was built just before the First World War. The domain contained a power plant, administrative buildings, staff accommodation and greenery. The steam production was put to a stop in 2001, causing the production of steam and hot water for district heating and the company Bekaert and finally be a thing of the past. The station was replaced by Ruien in the year 1958 with a larger capacity. Then the central Zwevegem remained active for a while as a backup center. Electrabel sold the site in 2004 to Zwevegem and inter Leiedal, representing a new future for the former power plant.
