This work shows the Old Church in Delft, seen from the 108 meter high tower of the New Church. The tower of the old church is almost 2 meters (!) out of plumb. For this reason it is also called the Leaning John.
Delft is best known for the fact that William of Orange resided there from 1572 and was murdered in 1584. Since then, the royal family has traditionally been interred in Delft's Nieuwe Kerk. Delft's nickname is the City of Princes.
