About the artwork

Black and white postcard of old Rotterdam in 1906 showing the Delft Gate.

The Delftsche Poort in Rotterdam was one of the city gates, the last of which was built in 1764 . It was already the third gate on that site: the previous two were dilapidated and had been demolished. The first gate was built in the Middle Ages and was named the Noorderpoort. The second St Joris or Delft Gate was built in 1545 but it stood in the way some 400 years later. Rotterdam wanted a better flow of increasing traffic. It was decided to move the gate about a hundred metres (demolition met with too much resistance). Relocation began in 1939. The substructure was completed in 1940 but during the bombing, the gate was severely damaged and it was decided that the gate could no longer be finished and had to disappear in n its entirety.

Recommended for people interested in the old Rotterdam before the devastating bombardment of 1940 and in the history of the Netherlands

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers. Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
