This is an image of an oven in a malting plant. Indeed, a beautiful piece of industry always intrigues me. In this malthouse, grains were converted into malt by soaking them in water. Then letting them germinate and then drying them. The malt is used in brewing beer and whiskey, for example. I had never visited a malt house before. This kiln with chimneys going through the roof is hugely impressive. It is hard for me to describe it but this picture tells more than words. The meager light was just ideal at this time of day. Nevertheless, I used the HDR technique to capture details in the highlights as well as in the shadows. The contrast in color between shadow and light is great. This makes the image balanced, and at the same time not very cold, or very warm. The meters high thick walls stand in a nice decay and thus the stones get different shades. The furnace is very centered in the photo, but this does not break the interest to the full image. For me, this was the highlight of this site and so I created and post-processed this image with a lot of passion for this abandoned industrial history.
