On the day this photograph of Nyhaven Harbour was taken there was a Christmas market, all of the little wooden huts containing gifts and decorations. As it was December the sun was not very high in the sky (it is dark by 3.30pm) and the Christmas markets and boats were in deep shadow. A rain storm was brewing and soon after I took this shot there was a downpour.
Nyhavn Harbour in Copenhagen is a picturesque and charming. The harbour is flanked by colourful Dutch-style town houses and was built in the 17 Century to link the harbour to Copenhagen City. There are a range of restaurants and bars with outside eating areas overlooking the harbour and one of the main tourist boats has its terminus there.
I have washed out the edges of the shot and just left in selective colour to contrast with the masts of the boats.
