I came across this Nile Goose by chance during another photo shoot. Fortunately, I still had the camera at hand and was able to take this picture. What beautiful green and reddish-brown colours and markings this bird has, so it is not surprising that the ancient Egyptians considered this bird sacred and it was often depicted in art.
The Nile Goose, native to Africa and now commonly seen in Europe, is a striking and colourful water bird loved by photographers and artists. Its attractive plumage, unique features such as the eye spots and breast band, and its dynamic behaviour make it a fascinating subject to capture. In addition, the rich historical and cultural significance of the Nile Goose, especially in ancient Egypt where it was revered and often depicted, contributes to its popularity in the art world. This combination of aesthetics, behaviour and cultural associations makes the Nile goose an inspiring bird for creative expression.
