About the artwork

Night photographamerfoort our Lady Tower seen from the Bloemendaal Binnenpoort Near this church stands a beautiful high tower, also called the Lady Tower, and built in the imagination of the Lady herself, because one sees the staircase between the second and third circum- stances bricked outside the wall with that intention, with a small spire on top, to show a child, thus depicting the Virgin. This tower is ornate and high, with three circum- stances and a very fine spire on top, making a total height of three hundred and fifty-four feet and five inches, and one counts 348 steps from the bottom to the third circum- stance. Abraham van Bemmel, 1760 With its height of more than 98 metres, the Onze Lieve Vrouwetoren is the third highest late-medieval tower in the Netherlands. The pride of Amersfoort is the city's most famous landmark and is also known as Lange Jan. I used a painting by Anton Pieck as an example of this picture. As a personal touch, I added evening photography. Something where Antond prefers to use the winter theme.
