The Nieuwkerk is a medieval church in the Dutch city of Dordrecht. Moped youth in front of the church.The church dates back to the year 1175. In that year, the St. Nikolaaskapelle, as it was then called, was consecrated a parochial church by the bishop of Utrecht. Chaplain Jan de Vries was appointed as the first parish priest. The architect of this parish church is unknown. After its consecration, St Nikolaaskapelle was elevated to parish church of the seigniory of Merwede.
