Iconic architecture in black and white: The Brooklyn Bridge in New York City, opened in 1883 and the town’s landmark ever since.
The architect, German-born John August Roebling, is said to having taken the inspiration for his neo-Gothic design from the windows of a church in his Thuringian hometown of Muehlhausen.
