This is a multi-layer composite fractal image.
The inspiration for this composition is to capture the lush and richly layered textured patterns and shapes of young foliage in rainforests. Using fractals allows me to also illustrate the idea of movement, growth and change over time. Different parts of fractals show the shapes evolving through various stages of growth, detail and complexity.
The image simultaneously evokes fresh calmness and lush intensity, inviting a deep love for nature.
All my fractal-based artworks are created from a clear idea or inspiration. I search and explore formulas in fractal generating software, and modify the parameters and colour palettes until I get the results that I am looking for. Two or three layers usually define the main elements of the artwork, and then I add more subtle layers to add depth and complexity.
The source images are rendered to a massive 20,000 x 20,000 pixels to ensure the clarity of detail that makes fractals so fascinating is flawlessly captured. While this artwork will look great at any size, it is designed to be most impressive at sizes of 1 x 1 metre or more, mounted as art frame or canvas on 4.5cm thick frame.
