Kasteel Neercanne or Château Neercanne, formerly Château Agimont, is a seventeenth-century baroque castle in the Jeker valley in the southwestern part of the Dutch municipality of Maastricht. Neercanne is located on the Cannerweg, still just on Dutch territory, near the Belgian-Limburg village of Kanne. Neercanne is the only terraced castle in the Netherlands, built on a landscaped terrace against the slope of the Canner mountain. The reconstructed baroque garden is also terraced. The castle is home to a renowned restaurant, Château Neercanne.
As a painter in the open air (plein air), I love coming to the Jeker valley. A beautiful wide valley with grassy meadows, farmlands and wine terraces on the slopes of Sint Pietersberg and the Louwberg.
