About ‘Nawalgarh: Kamal Morarka Haveli Museum’ by Maarten Verhees

Nawalgarh is een stad, halverwege tussen Jhunjhunu en Sikar in Rajasthan. Het maakt deel uit van de regio Shekhawati. Deze stad wordt geprezen om zijn haveli's en fresco's en wordt behandeld als de Gouden Stad van Rajasthan. In 1737 werd deze stad gesticht door Nawal Singh, de vierde van vijf broers. De mooiste fresco's van Shekhavati zijn te zien in deze stad. De havelis heeft nog steeds het rijke en rijke tijdperk van de 19e eeuw. De Morarka Haveli is een beroemde toeristenplaats. Mensen die gek zijn op architectuur en schilderijen moeten deze plek bezoeken.De familie Morarka migreerde naar Nawalgarh en vestigde daar hun bedrijf. Shri Jairamdasji Morarka, patroonheilige van de kunsten en een connaisseur bouwde het in 1900. Vele haveli's, putten en tempels werden door hen gebouwd. Uit deze gebouwen is Morarka Haveli een herkenningspunt in de stad Nawalgarh, gelegen in de Naya Bazaar. De haveli kenmerkt verschillende patronen die in die tijd over schilderijen op de muren heersten. De fresco's zijn zelfs na een eeuw zo goed bewaard gebleven.De hoofdingang is opmerkelijk. De schilderijen in de Haveli zijn verschillend met thema's zoals god, godinnen, vogels, dieren, religieuze landschappen, het leven in margar en bloempatronen. Het heeft ook het verbazingwekkende, beschadigde vensterglas van de Belg.
