Tips for use

About ‘Naples - Basilica Reale Pontificia San Francesco da Paola’ by Thomas Bugdoll

San Francesco di Paola is a church in Naples. It is located on the west side of the Piazza del Plebiscito opposite the Palazzo Reale. The foundation stone was laid on 17 June 1816. The church was completed in 1846.

Piazza del Plebiscito is the largest square in Naples. Joachim Murat, the brother-in-law of Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte, had the square laid out. Murat was King of Naples from 1808 to 1815. On one side of the semi-circular square is the Royal Palace (Palazzo Reale) and on the other side is the church of San Francesco di Paola.
