About the artwork
I discovered this mystical nocturnal cityscape in the historic city centre of the magical Spanish metropolis of Valencia.
The deserted, mysterious silence here has a very special, imaginative charm, which is further emphasised by the old cobblestones.
In the background, through the archway, is an abandoned old market hall, which I visited during my night-time photo walk through the mysterious, picturesque and fairytale-like alleyways and side streets of the dreamlike city of Valencia.
The very dark, brown, muted colour tones and the reflection of the water on the cobblestones with the iron sewage covers lend the city motif a mystical, unobtrusive and timeless atmosphere.
The picture is therefore suitable for all living and working spaces and is ideal for hanging on the wall with a charming character.
The picture was taken at midnight on 5 August 2010 with the NIKON D90 camera (lens: SIGMA 18.0-50.0 mm f/2.8).
