During my city trip to Berlin, I stopped at "Aufbau der Republik", a mural by German artist Max Lingner, created just after World War II at the beginning of the GDR. I have always been fascinated by history, and places like these I find impressive. I enjoy photographing these historical sites during my travels as much as beautiful landscapes and other attractions.
"Aufbau der Republik" is a mural by German artist Max Lingner, completed in 1952, located in the former Finance Ministry of the GDR in Berlin. The painting depicts an idealistic picture of the building of socialist society after World War II, with workers, peasants and intellectuals working together to rebuild. The work is considered an example of GDR propaganda art and reflects the ideological goals of the socialist state. Today, it is considered a historical artefact that offers insight into the art and politics of the time.
