Karlstor in Munich (called Neuhauser Tor until 1791) is one of the famous city walls of Munich from the Middle Ages until well into the 18th century. It served as an important defensive structure and checkpoint.
It is located at the western end of Neuhauser Straße, a part of the pedestrian area in the centre of Munich, which was part of the salt road and the east-west passage of the historic old town.
The building is the westernmost of the three remaining gothic city gates of the original five. What visitors see today are these two outward facing side towers and the connecting arch, which bear little resemblance to the late medieval originals.
Charles Johann Palmié (1863, Aschersleben, Saxony-Anhalt, Germany-1911) A pointillist / neo-impressionist painter is known as one of the founders of Wassily Kandinsky in 1909 of NKVM.
Palmie then spent two years at the Dresden Academy of Fine Arts in Saxony. In 1884 Palmie moved from Dresden to Munich, Bavaria.
