The Rings of Venus? Does Venus have rings ? No, at least not at the moment. But what is not may yet come.
The planet Venus is just about the last place in the solar system you would want to be. The temperature is over 450 degrees Celsius. The atmosphere, with an atmospheric pressure 90 times that of Earth, is largely composed of CO2. And the planet is surrounded by a thick cloud cover from which sulfuric acid rains.
But even that can change. It's going to take a lot of time, money and effort, but this dependency of hell can be terraformed. In other words, it can be turned into a kind of second Earth. A world where plants and animals from our homeworld thrive.
Although there will always be differences. The long days and nights, for example. And the climate that is hot and humid almost everywhere. The new Venus will be a kind of Amazonia on steroids with perhaps a touch of Kilmandjaro in the highlands and a sprinkling of Madeira in the polar regions. And those Rings, they are much needed, as light in the moonless nights and for shadow in the zone around the equator.
In short: an ideal setting for a film. Or perhaps for a 48-part series on the streaming services. This fictional movie poster already forms a teaser. All the names of the actors and the rest of the crew are also fictitious. Apart from the author of the novel on which the story is based.
