In this picture we see two giraffes: a mother and an infant. The mother is on the left and has her head and neck bent forward toward her child; her head is rubbing along the youngster's neck.
The youngster is on the right, looking curiously into the camera and letting it happen.
The mother's front legs are visible on the left up to just below the knee and the rest of her abdomen is not in the picture. Of the young, we see the entire body except for the lower part of the legs. The photo was really taken to capture the interaction.
In the background are dense green trees and bushes. At the top, a small bit of cloudy sky can be seen.
The photo was taken in Timbavati, part of The Greater Kruger in South Africa during one of my safari trips.
