This is a vertical variation on the quite well-known image of mine called The Birches (also available in my shop). It was hard to choose the "right" orientation, because both images emphasize something different. This image shows the narrowness of this path really well and makes if feel intimate and secluded. The fog made it incredibly painterly and the colours of this early August morning were stunning. I remember this day incredibly well. The fog lingered all morning and I photographed for hours and then had to rush to get to my mum's birthday in time. It is a rare occurrence in August though to get these kinds of conditions. The sun was out, the sky was blue, but underneath it was this dense and long lasting fog. It was a magical morning that I'll probably never forget
