Forrest Gump Point, Monument Valley in Utah. This one had been on my wish list to photograph for a long time. On the border of Arizona and Utah lies this beautiful nature reserve which is managed by the Navajo tribe.
For work I had to go to Salt Lake City and had a few days off so I could drive towards Monument Valley armed with my camera gear. After a drive of about 7 hours, I arrived on site. There are a number of options for shooting here including, of course, this point, known from the film of the same name starring Tom Hanks.
For this photo, I chose to have a car driving in the image, giving you more of a "roadtrip" feel. This did force up my iso and shutter speed to still create a sharp image but my camera can handle that. After a few shots, I was done here and could look for a hotel.
With this, it's half over for me. The other half to make the work suitable for my shop at work on the wall, I do at home with the necessary post-processing in various photo programs. All in all, this takes time, but if the end result is what I had in mind, I am very satisfied and this work will not look out of place on your wall.
