About the artwork

In the barren coastal landscape of Namibia lies Cape Cross - a place of extremes, where the cold Benguela Current meets the hot desert sand. And it is precisely here, at one of the world's largest gathering places for seals, that this impressive portrait of a South African fur seal (Arctocephalus pusillus) was taken.

The photograph shows the seal in a calm close-up, almost as if it were confiding directly in the viewer. Its gaze appears curious, alert - and perhaps also a little tired. The finely textured fur is full of detail and the perspective has been chosen in such a way as to create closeness but never appear intrusive.

Up to 250,000 animals live in Cape Cross at times - it is loud, wild and chaotic. This makes the moment of tranquillity that the photographer has captured here all the more remarkable.

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers. Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
