A Mola is a special, colorful textile design originating from the Kuna Indians of Panama. They are the most famous indigenous handicraft of Panama, where molas and indigenous art are considered "Panama folklore".As inspiration for their designs, they first used the geometric patterns previously used for body painting. In the last 50 years, they also began to depict realistic and abstract designs of flowers, sea creatures and birds. Many of these blouses and individual panels have become prized collectibles, among textile enthusiasts and museums around the world.
