This unique building with its eye-catching facade consists of an accumulation of almost seventy separate Zaanse houses, executed in four colours of Zaans green. Dissonant is the blue house in the upper left corner, which is inspired by the painting of the same name that Claude Monet painted in 1871 in Zaandam.
It's an example of fusion architecture. Fusion stands for an inventive way of connecting the present with the past, of tradition with innovation and of high and low culture. This results in a new expression, which responds to specific local customs and is at the same time universal.
